outlook 2003 rejecting login with secure password..
HTTP mail is disabled in Vista. It won't work in Windows Mail and I don't think it will work in Outlook either. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile=F9F51EF1-4AE3-4D23-B2D8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped.

It sounds like you have Secure Password Authentification turned on which you don't want. Under Tools in Outllook click on E-mail accounts and then "view or change existing e-mail account". click next, select the account from the box and then click Change. Make sure that the box for "Log on using Secure Password Authentification" is unchecked.

Don't think any of the replies so far got to the bottom of the problem. I have the exact same problem and have so far not found any solution
First. msn.com is a old fashioned pop3 based mail not an http, so suggesting using an http link to the pop3 server does not work.
Second. Secure password Authentication is needed for msn.com. At least in win XP and all previous win incarnations, so turning SPA off will not help. As a matter of fact if you do, you will get a different error saying "your email adress is incorrect".
Have also tried to turn off all anti-spam and email virus checking to no avail.
msn tech service will not and does not have an answer since this is a Vista problem only.

Same here. I have an old msn.com POP3 email account that requires SPA and have not been able to get it to work in Vista. If works fine in two other XP Pro computers with OE express. I have not been able to resolve this issue. dotcom

Thanks-I learned something. I've only helped my Cosuin configure her new account which is HTTP. Never knew the older ones were POP.

I had the same problem. Outlook 2003 works fine on my XP computer but not on my new Vista computer. After talking with Qwest and then Microsoft tech support we finally figured out that if you download and install Outlook Connector you can use Outlook 2003 to send/receive email from MSN on a Vista computer.
